Fleur Darkin Postcard Augustine

Essexdance is supporting Fleur Darkin with a commission of £4,000 towards the production of Augustine. The development of this work was initiated through essexdance’s Digi-Lounge Residencies in Chelmsford and Newcastle in 2004.

Augustine is dance/design collaboration between choreographer Fleur Darkin and digital artist Guy Hilton.

Augustine examines the neuropsychology of memory and is concerned with the work of Dr. Charcot, pioneer of the classification and treatment of patients – often adolescent girls – who were suffering from what was termed an epidemic of hysteria. Research for the performance was undertaken through collaboration with Doctors at the Institute of Psychiatry at King’s College, London.

Augustine begins touring at the end of 2006 and continues throughout 2007.
